As consumer expectations continue to rise, retailers need more than good deals to keep the tills ringing and shoppers returning. Konvergent continues to prepare major UK retailers for the next phase of their transformation.
As a part franchised and part centrally-operated company, Starbucks was facing challenges due to variations in its architecture implementation. The resulting inconsistency of capabilities was causing ongoing problems for their Director of IT.
Konvergent was charged with providing a templated HLD architecture structure across networks, applications and infrastructure. This was based on current best practices that could be implemented by franchisees, both large and small.
Memorably, this was also the only assignment we've ever done to start off with a coffee tasting session! Right from the start, our relationship with Tesco was the perfect fusion of everything Konvergent stands for.
There was the long-term client that came back to Konvergent after moving from BT. There was also the chief architect who, while attending a Konvergent roundtable event co-hosted with Travelex, saw the quality of the output and visuals and wanted something similar for his architecture function.
That was in 2019, and a lot has happened since then. However, Konvergent's relationship with Tesco continues to go from strength to strength with multiple projects all across the business, from core finance to warehousing.
By running the projects in an agile way, we gave Tesco a visibility of architecture they had never experienced with any previous consultancy.
