As part of their M&A journey, our client wanted to achieve their key strategic objectives, but had limited understanding of the current state, capabilities, data and technology assets across the group. Konvergent provided insights that were consolidated and visualised in an interactive digital portal which was used to present and support Executive/Board meeting updates and strategic group decision-making.
Our client has been on a M&A journey as part of their overall growth plans and is now made up of multiple different companies. They had limited understanding of the current state, capabilities, data and technology assets across the group.
To achieve its key strategic objectives, a significant programme of work was needed, particularly around enterprise IT and how it supports the overall business transformation. Critical decisions were needed around cloud strategy, CRM/ERP strategy, IT delivery model, learning management, IT cost optimisation, and group services integration. A target architecture and roadmap across the business, applications, data, infrastructure, security, and UX/UI architecture needed to be built to achieve these objectives.
A critical aspect of any architectural work is for the Executives and Board to have the right information to inform crucial decisions to affect the group’s future. This is challenging as, due to the low level of architecture maturity, key stakeholders will not be familiar with critical concepts and the information outputs. The executives therefore needed the information to be visualised clearly and simply, to ensure decision-making is made more straightforward than using traditional architecture visualisations.
Konvergent were engaged to help support the design of their transformation programme of work. As the current state of the organisation across the multiple companies was not well understood, strategic analysis of the As-Is business was required, covering capabilities, data, technology and security, prior to focusing on defining the transformational strategies and target states. In addition, an interpretation of the corporate business strategy was essential to be well understood, to ensure the technology strategies and targets states were aligned to enable the business to achieve their strategic goals. A full business capability design and assessment was completed, which was then used to understand how the current data and technology assets supported the business and where they had significant gaps and pain-points.
Strategic ambitions and insights from the business strategy, capability, data modelling, application portfolio, technology portfolio and security domain analysis, provided the building blocks to be used to define and shape the transformational roadmap. These deliverables and insights were all consolidated and visualised in an interactive digital portal that was used to present and support Executive/Board meeting updates and strategic group decision-making.
